Dulux Paints Featured Installation Company
Brisbane Based Dulux Paints, part of the Orica Group, has been in the paint manufacturing industry at its Rocklea Plant since 1962.
Dulux needed a clear and precise code on the product to match the company’s brand image and approached Thermal Coding Australia to look at a more presentable and cost efficient technology to replace inkjet for the coding of cans.
Dulux was then coding on the base of the can but required a code to be put on the side for better traceability.
The Macsa CO2 K Series Range provides the versatility for operators in the packing area to quickly and precisely change over from a 500ml to a 10ltr Can.
Dulux’s Ian Foote says the laser option presented by Thermal and National Coding offered the production Team a cleaner and more reliable coding format than the existing inkjet.
“The laser technology has given us inherently more reliability on the production line with a coding technology that covers our full range of products and substrates,” he says.
Dulux has now installed 8 Macsa CO2 K Series lasers that are integrated into the fully Automated Robotic Packing Stations and controlled through the Laser Ethernet port by the online Dulux Skada Management System.
Six months after the installation Ian Foote says: “The laser coding system has been a good project with a better than expected outcome.
“The lasers have shown to be reliable and handled the range of label colours, providing a crisp, clean batch code.”
PVC Pipe Laser Coding
This Mobile Laser Marking Station allows for permanent coding onto to PVC Pipes and/or Tubing with the versatility to mark single or multiple lines of text and logos onto PVC from 5mm to 250mm in diameter. The system includes a PVC extractor on the mobile station with easy to adjust x/y movement and a perspex guard to ensure all laser health and safety is met. The built in encoder allows for precise and reliable marking up to to 30m a minute.
